Board Purpose
The purpose of the Beacon of Hope Crisis Center (BOHCC) Board of Directors is to help the organization pursue its mission of empowering victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to become self-sufficient by providing safety, education, and support. We’re seeking board members who will be enthusiastic partners. To this end, the board provides support through governance, strategic planning, fundraising, and outreach.  Beacon of Hope Crisis Center is a small organization and active board member participation is vital to our sustainability.  Board membership is a volunteer position.



Board Treasurer

Job Description

Per organizational bylaws, the Treasurer is primarily responsible for overseeing Beacon of Hope Crisis Center's finances. In addition to the board member-at-large responsibilities, the Board Treasurer has the following responsibilities:
  • Oversee all revenues and expenses and create as needed and review financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement) and communicate this information to the Board on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Works with the BOHCC staff and board to create the BOHCC budget draft and seeks approval from the board on an annual budget.
  • Ensures development and board review of sound fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Acts as an official signer on accounts and works with the CEO on large monetary distributions.
  • Oversee any financial agreements.
  • Participates in revenue generation activities including cultivation and stewardship.
  • Serves as the chair of the finance committee where applicable.
  • In cooperation with the board officers, they accept responsibility for filing annual tax forms as required by the state or the IRS.
  • Provides a full financial report to the board of directors annually.

2.)  After reviewing your application, we will arrange a meeting or phone conversation with the Board Chair and/or CEO and another Board Member to discuss your interests, availability, and a possible role for you on our Board.
3.)  The Board will vote to approve your membership at or before the next bi-monthly virtual meeting.
4.)  You sign our Board Agreement & receive board member materials.
5.)  You attend the next Board bi-monthly virtual meeting.
