What is domestic violence?

Beacon of Hope Crisis Center has trained domestic violence advocates who offer support and guidance without judgment.

Availability:  Our office hours are 8:30-4:30 PM, and we have extended crisis line coverage until 1:00 am daily.  Our victim advocates are available to assist domestic violence and sexual assault victims.  We are an advocacy and referral crisis support center.  We are not a 24/7 provider, and we are not a shelter.  We can help you with many services and resources.

Domestic Violence Advocacy Services

Court Advocacy/Criminal Justice Support:
  • Updates to the victim on the criminal case within the criminal justice process
  • Assistance to victims in connecting with their assigned advocate within the prosecutor’s office on detailed information regarding their case
  • Help victims with the preparation of a Victim Impact Statement
  • Arrange for accompaniment to court for criminal cases, protective orders, or CHINS cases
  • Assistance to victims with filing for a protective order
Crisis Intervention:
  • Arrange for accompaniment to the hospital
  • Arrange for accompaniment to the police station
  • Help with the Address Confidentiality Program Application
  • Support through the initial crisis phase and the recovery process
Case Management:
  • Help victims with the creation of a safety plan
  • Help victims with the Crime Victims Compensation Application (if law enforcement has been involved)
  • Resource information and referrals (medical assistance, legal assistance, shelter/housing, employment, clinics, counseling/support groups)
  • Provide appropriate follow-ups
