Community Services Coordinator
(Full-Time)

The Community Services Coordinator is responsible for providing education about domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, harassment, sex-trafficking, etc., to our law enforcement partners and those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. This position will help bridge the gap between those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, and law enforcement. This position is the liaison with numerous State and community-based agencies and other community groups on issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. This position is also responsible for providing supportive services, including crisis intervention, information, and appropriate case management services for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. This position assists both adults and children.
 
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Receive continue education and training on domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Provide domestic violence and sexual assault training to law enforcement.
  • Assist the agency in educating the community and raising awareness to connect with those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Assist with presentations/training on domestic violence and sexual assault to our program partners (law enforcement, hospitals, legal, courts, and agencies), and the general public.
  • Serve as the agency’s partner liaison to our community partners, law enforcement, hospitals, hotels, etc.
  • Always maintain professionalism, including:
    • Positive rapport with collaborative partners and express only positive feedback.
    • Positive rapport with clients.
  • Provide clients with emergency support services, including:
    • Emergency financial assistance for food, clothing, or other items related to getting out of an immediate crisis.
    • Emergency and essential transportation assistance to safe shelter or essential appointments to aid in increased self-sufficiency.
  • Connect clients to necessary counseling and/or other professional services, including:
    • Medical/Dental resources – assisting in locating necessary medical/dental care for injuries related to domestic violence or sexual assault.
    • Personal – including securing rights, remedies, and services from other agencies.
    • Compensation Assistance
  • Assist clients in reporting to law enforcement, connecting with the detective/officer assigned to their case, and/or providing relevant information about their case.
  • Provide law enforcement accompaniment when needed.
  • Provides immediate, short-term, and long-term support to clients and their families.
  • If BOHCC cannot provide what is needed, provide the appropriate referral to clients.
  • Pass along important information to the leadership team that falls outside the scope of direct client service.
  • Foster an environment of respect with clients, callers, and staff.
  • Attend all staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A BA in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, related field.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license, full coverage auto insurance, and reliable transportation required.
  • Qualified candidates must be familiar with the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Applicants must have excellent written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Be able to respect the confidentiality of the work that is performed at Beacon of Hope. Able to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality and successfully clearance of a criminal background check.
  • Commitment to a non-violent and cooperative work environment.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the criminal justice system, crisis intervention, and applicable state rights/laws.
  • Commitment to providing quality services to all clients.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and includes the potential for occasional hybrid remote work. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Any role that permits remote work fully or in part requires the applicant to personally have in place before the start date of employment and throughout employment, an adequate internet speed for upload and download, which is a speed of at least 5Mbps, and utilize a secure network requiring a password (known as an encryption key) when doing any BOHCC work.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; you will be sitting at a desk using a computer and talking on the phone about 98% of the time. Some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand as necessary, be comfortable talking on the phone for long periods, and utilize Bluetooth ear devices.
