Your donation to our operating expense infrastructure makes a huge impact on the people we serve in your communities. You made a difference...you made this happen... Success Narrative Two weeks ago, a victim called in seeking my assistance. The victim and the abuser have a child in common, but are separated. They each have their own weeks/weekends with their child, but arguments arise. The abuser continues putting the victim in fear of physical harm when they exchange their child. Law enforcement has been involved multiple times to help ease each situation, but the abuser manipulates the officers and agrees to comply. However, after the officers leave the abuser becomes a disturbance again to the victim. The victim is afraid as the abuser continues to yell, interrupt their work schedule, make threats of taking the victims child away and possibly hurting the victim. The victim attempted filing a Protective Order in 2014 without the assistance of an advocate, but it was not granted due to lack of evidence. The victim came in this week and I assisted the victim with filing a Protective Order. This time ensuring, we provided recent and sufficient evidence of the fear the victim feels of being physically harmed. In less than 24 hours after I submitted the victims Protective Order, the court granted the Protective Order Ex-Parte for two years. Success Narrative A victim called the crisis line looking for assistance in applying for jobs and finding available housing. Since fleeing the abuser, the victim had been having a hard time finding a home within the victim’s budget for the victim and their children. Additionally, the victim was having difficulty finding employment. An intern and I worked with the victim on searching for jobs, sending the victim job postings, assistance on a resume and cover letter as well as homes that were within the correct budget. With the help of Beacon of Hope, the victim was able to obtain two interviews scheduled for next week and secure stable and safe housing. Victim Advocate - Beacon of Hope Crisis Center

The Indianapolis non-profit agency that has been helping victims of domestic violence since 2009 recently relocated to the southside and has forged a new relationship with Greenwood police.
