7 Reasons For 2020 End of Year Giving

End of Year Giving or Year-End Giving, whichever phrasing you prefer, we need you!  Please Will You Help Us Finish 2020 Strong?

Seven reasons giving to charity is so rewarding and good for you!

1. It elicits a major mood boost, because giving to charity makes you feel good.
2. It induces feelings of social conscience because giving strengthens personal values.
3. It is good for our health.                                                                                   According to an article by Jason Marsh and Jill Suttie a past study conducted by, Jorge Moll and colleagues at the National Institutes of Health found that when people give to charities, it activates regions of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust, creating a “warm glow” effect. Scientists also believe that altruistic behavior releases endorphins in the brain, producing the positive feeling known as the “helper’s high.”  Researchers also suggest that one reason giving may improve physical health and longevity is that it helps decrease stress, which is associated with a variety of health problems. In a 2006 study by Rachel Piferi of Johns Hopkins University and Kathleen Lawler of the University of Tennessee, people who provided social support to others had lower blood pressure than participants who didn’t, suggesting a direct physiological benefit to those who give of themselves.             
   
4. It invokes gratitude.
5. It nurtures innate generosity because it introduces your children to the importance of giving.
6. It inspires others and encourages friends and family to give to charity too.
7. In 2020 thanks to the CARES Act individuals and businesses are being given increased tax incentives for giving to charitable causes.

"Our nation's charities are struggling to help those suffering from COVID-19, and many deserving organizations can use all the help they can get," said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. "The IRS reminds people there's a new provision that allows for up to $300 in cash donations to qualifying organizations to be deducted from income. We encourage people to explore this option to help deserving tax-exempt organizations – and the people and causes they serve."
